Banks – ATM, online and telephone banking will be available but face-to-face services will be extremely limited in each region with face-to-face branch banking only available in Timaru on limited days and hours. Please see here for further information from each bank on opening hours and services.

Aorangi Vets: Aorangi Vets are providing an essential service during the lock down, this includes farm production and emergency/urgent small animal work. Our work hours during the week are unchanged and we continue to provide a 24 hour emergency on call service but will not be running Saturday morning clinics until further notice. Gateway Vets: Veterinary services are considered to be essential and so Gateway Vets will remain open, however measures will be in place to protect our client base and staff. All goods will need to be paid for online to our bank account. EFTPOS is NOT an option. Goods will be picked up at a specific time or delivered to your gate by arrangement. North End Motors: Our breakdown service will still be operating for AA, First Assistance, NZRA as usual (with the addition of distancing protocols etc) and if you are a member of these organisations and need assistance you should contact them in the first instance as normal.
If you are not a member of the above organisations and desire assistance with a breakdown, or if work is required on your vehicle and you are deemed an ‘essential service’ I will be happy to attend to your needs as appropriate. Any NZ Couriers freight addressed as c/- North End Motors will be held at the NZC depot in Washdyke and can be uplifted from there in emergency.
Orari Irrigation: Orari Irrigation as an essential service with a registered plumber and drainlayer and field technician will remain open for all essential repairs and parts during the lock down period. The shop is also open for essential fittings for account customers only. No cash or Eftpos. For example if the work is for a supermarket, or hospital or a food producer then they are all essential services and you may continue providing services to them.
- Plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying is also an essential service if the work is required immediately to maintain human health and safety at home or work.
The key point here is that it must be:
- Required to maintain human health and safety; and
- That requirement must be immediate.
Not all work will is needed to maintain human health and safety. Nor is the need always immediate.

The Cottage Pantry, Wilson St: The Cottage Pantry was established with an aim to provide and alternative and wider choice of baking ingredients for consumers who value natural foods, with the emphasis on preservative and additive free ingredients, specialist flours, organic and gluten-free products, grains and pulses.
The Cottage Pantry is still open but operating a little differently for the moment. Opening hours will be Monday – Friday 10am – 6pm.
