Geraldine Distillery crafts international award-winning spirits right in the heart of Geraldine, combining traditional copper-still distilling with modern thinking. It’s home to Humdinger Gin — the small-batch range that put the distillery on the map, celebrating the humble bee that begins nature’s cycle in every bottle.
The cellar door on Talbot Street is open Monday–Saturday, 10am–4pm, for tastings and bottle sales, and you can book a guided distillery tour to see the copper still up close and learn how the spirits are made — around 45 minutes, finishing with a guided tasting.
The distillery is also home to New Zealand’s only sloe orchard: over 1,000 blackthorn trees grown in Canterbury and handpicked each autumn for the gold-medal Humdinger Sloe Gin — a true local original you can only get because of where it’s grown.
An easy stop on SH79 between Christchurch and the Mackenzie, and well worth building into any Geraldine visit.
