Peel Forest Outdoor Centre
Description
Peel Forest Outdoor Centre sits in a remarkable part of South Canterbury, beside the Rangitata River, Peel Forest Park and Scenic Reserve, and beneath the foothills of the Southern Alps.
Our purpose is simple: to give people the opportunity to experience the outdoors, learn through challenge and grow in confidence. Our programmes are safe, affordable and designed to educate, challenge and inspire, with experiences tailored for schools, corporate groups, families and private organisations.
Alongside our existing outdoor programmes, the Centre now offers an expanded Eco-Lodge and Tent City experience. Younger groups can enjoy the adventure of sleeping under canvas in platform-based tents, with mattresses provided, while teachers, parents and supporting adults stay close by in the refreshed lodge. New covered gathering areas, outdoor cooking facilities and improved amenities make the site practical in all weather, while still retaining the feeling of a genuine outdoor camp.
Programmes can include team and trust activities, low and high ropes, rock climbing and abseiling, white-water rafting and kayaking, river rescue skills, bush and navigation adventures, environmental education and overnight expeditions. During winter, mountain and ski-based days may also be available by arrangement.
Whether it is a young person spending their first night away from home, a school group learning to work together, or a team stepping outside their everyday environment, Peel Forest is a place to explore, be challenged and discover what you are capable of.
Keep an eye on the geraldine.nz events calendar for our regular school holiday programmes for young people.
