Nicky Donkers

I was born and grew up in Geraldine. After a period at university and working away, I returned in 1995 and worked for Barker’s for 28+ years, so I know Geraldine and the surrounding community well. I feel lucky to live in such a vibrant, friendly, and caring community.

My professional background is in sales and marketing, but in recent years I have held roles in commercial strategy and governance. Currently, I provide strategy, insight, and mentoring advice to several businesses and not-for-profit organizations.

I am a serving board member of Bidwill Hospital Trust, Geraldine.nz, Peel Forest Outdoor Pursuits Trust, Tennis South Canterbury, New Zealand Dairy Dessert Company, Aorangi Veterinary Services, and the Geraldine Licensing Trust. I am a member of the NZ Institute of Directors.

My approach to governance is strategic, collaborative, and questioning, skills that the GLT will require to ensure it continues to be an important future sustainable community-owned entity and a key contributor to the community needs.
